Everyone deserves the right to make decisions about their own health. Today, the Supreme Court struck down that fundamental right by overturning Roe, the landmark case that protects a pregnant person’s right to an abortion.

 

The Supreme Court’s decision overturns 50 years of precedent and threatens to reverse the health, educational, and economic advancements the American people have made as a result of Roe.

 

This decision will not only impact Americans who live in states where abortion is banned. This is the first step in Republicans’ plan to ban abortion on a national level and criminalize a person’s right to life-saving healthcare. 

 

We must fight Republicans’ efforts to criminalize healthcare and endanger the lives of pregnant people. Leading up to November, every American must mobilize to elect national and state representatives who believe in the fundamental right to an abortion. Young Women for US is dedicated to electing legislators who will protect reproductive rights.
